I found this map on another blog, and the post was showing Facebook’s massive growth over the last year and how it’s taking over as the dominant social network in many new countries. This map also shows how other social networks are still #1 in certain countries.

I found this post great so far, but what really intrigued me were all these new foreign social networks i’ve never heard of before! Do they have self serving advertising platforms? even one of them? If not do they have advertising departments with English speaking reps?

The first one i researched was V Kontakte, and i was very confused. This is the V Kontakte website: http://vkontakte.ru/ (When translated, it says Facebook all over it… can someone explain this?). I found an advertising page, which is also very similar to Facebook http://vkontakte.ru/ads.php?tabs=1. The thing is i was not able to translate the page, since it redirects to another page. But they do have self serving advertising available.

Next was Mixi (Japans largest social network). http://mixi.jp/, they also have advertising but their page cannot be translated either.

I researched a few more, but found nothing that helpful. I personally don’t think I’ll be dabbling into any foreign social networks on this list at the moment, but it’s definitely something that can make a ton of money. I see zero affiliate competition! It would be extremely tricky unless you spoke the language of the social network your trying to advertise on. It would make research, deal negotiations, purchasing, support and everything else 100 times easier. It can still be done though by hiring someone who speaks the language for 20 hours to work everything out, preferably someone with business experience.

Cool bonus graphic! Facebook communication map!
